STEVAN C KIRKPATRICK  is your grassroots candidate for the District 17 Oregon State Senate position and a native Oregonian.  He realizes the impact of recent legislation on the timber industry, the farming and fishing industries and businesses that receive few advantages for operating in the State of Oregon. 

These are trying times for our State and our Country.  The administration has implemented costly resolutions to the current economic condition.  These strategies are not working.  People are not working.  The time has come for a change in leadership that will promote the business climate in Oregon, leading to expanded and continued employment, a reduction in government and responsible allocation of our State’s resources that will benefit  not only the State, but its inhabitants as well.

A reduction in government is the answer to the enhancement and continued operation of Oregon industry.  Careful consideration of environmental issues is necessary in these stressful times.  Promoting industry that reduces our independence on fossil fuels will propel Oregon into the future and ensure our sustainability and environment protection.
 
Stevan understands the plight of the unemployed in Oregon. He will fight for the return of jobs and business to the Sate of Oregon.

Stevan C. Kirkpatrick was born and raised in Oregon.  He has resided most of his life in Washington County.

 

After graduating from Sunset High School, Stevan enlisted in the military and served 17 years in the U.S. Marine Corps, fulfilling four tours of duty overseas.  He has visited or lived in over 15 European countries and was involved in conflicts in the Mediterranean Sea. He served as a member of the Executive Flight Attachment for the President of the United States.

 

After his honorable discharge as a disabled veteran and return from active duty, Stevan started a construction company.  Unfortunately economic conditions dictated the ultimate closure of that enterprise.  As a prior business owner, Stevan understands the impact additional taxation and detrimental legislation has on business profitability.  He is knowledgeable about the labor and regulatory compliance issues facing not only our business community but our farming and fishing industries as well.  Due to his high level of entrepreneurial spirit, Stevan strongly believes that entrepreneurs are the cornerstone of our nation’s economy and financial wealth.

  

For the past 15 years, Stevan has worked in Corporate America and has witnessed the massive layoffs and fiscal instability affecting the financial foundation of this country.  Through his current position, he has gained first-hand knowledge of the issues and challenges facing business, both large and small, in today’s economic crisis.
 

Stevan shares concerns with many Oregonians over the high jobless rate in the state, the impending tax issues facing Oregonians and the runaway spending exhibited by Government both on the State and National levels.  As a disabled veteran, Stevan understands the employment needs of veterans, both able bodied and disabled and their need to find and obtain viable employment.

 

He is concerned for the continued stability of the families of Oregon, and the rights of citizens to participate in the running of their government and the legislative process

 

Stevan is deeply concerned with the retention of parental rights and the importance of education.  He will work hard to improve the quality of Oregon educational standards and the right for parents to choose the schools their children attend. 

 

Stevan is running for Oregon State Senate District 17 as a Constitutional Conservative on the Republican ticket.  He will work to bring fiscal accountability  to the State of Oregon when elected.  Stevan’s desire and drive to help and support this community make him the candidate of choice.
